No offense to @cwarzel, but I think this is 100% wrong.
Elon Musk is spreading disinformation because that's what fascists do. https://twitter.com/TheAtlantic/status/1842856105203867677
This NYT Maggie column (in which she ALSO covers up the way NYT helped Russian spies attack Hillary Clinton in 2016) explains that, sure, Trump has no field operation but they think Hurricane Helene and Bibi's war will get Trump elected.

Just starting on Jack Smith's immunity briefing. Do these claims look familiar?
documentcloud.org/documents/2518…One reason Trump wanted these identities to be more obscure is he's trying to hide that people STILL working for him knew he lost in 2020.
P2: Campaign Manager
P3: Deputy Campaign Manager
P4: Senior Campaign Advisor
One of these people is Jason Miller, for example, still lying on TV for Trump.

On top of all the other uncertainty about polling this year, there's a specific one: How voters view the economy, bc that's often correlated with winner.
That's where things start to get interesting.Gallup released a study showing that economy is still most important (but their poll of most important only shows 4% view abortion as being most important).

This @KarlRove piece is worth reading--no really!! It provides his really detailed, probably not entirely honest assessment of ground game.
He attributes much, not all, of VP's success ramping up to Joe's prior field work.
wsj.com/opinion/whos-w…
One way to think about this is that in early August, VP and Walz did huge rallies to recruit volunteers they could plug into an already ambitious field network Biden set up.
That said, they've been able to expand on that.

As I've said, the first two paragraphs of this start out well. Then they turn to normalization and magnification. https://twitter.com/farhip/status/1832457891187454099
¶3 describes what they later call a "stream-of-consciousness rant" as a "strategic choice." That's a REALLY curious term, given that Trump is accusing VP of being unable to make coherent statements.

Note, Benny and Pool have the same number of YouTUbe subscribers as named in ¶4 of the indictment. https://twitter.com/alanfeuer/status/1831397543483457960
If Commentator 1 and 2 ARE Benny and Pool, they demand $5M to spew the shite they do about Donald Trump.

Let's look at this WaPo column, claiming this is not a policy driven election.
It lists SEVEN policies Kamala has laid out, just four for Trump, plus the common no tax on tips.
washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/…Here's a list (note, it doesn't mention tax cuts for billionaires among Trump's):
1) Border wall
2) Mass deportations
3) Tariffs
4) Isolation
*) No tax on tips
a) Insulin costs
b) Climate
c) Boost housing
d) CTC/EITC
e) DOJ independence
f) Reproductive rights
g) NATO

In my post I noted that the riskiest thing Jack Smith did was keep the Mike Pence language in there (the Justices directly questioned whether he was VP or President of Senate in those roles). This language addresses that. Smith had to pull out ALL reference to people in govt telling Trump he was nuts. This undoubtedly makes @C_C_Krebs and Bill Barr sad, as they won't get to testify.

Here's the website for the group running a tribute to the 20 Jan6ers (most convicted of assault) who created a music video with Trump.
The effort is led by Shane Jenkins, who was convicted by a jury on March 29, 2023.

Here's his verdict sheet. Civil disorder, obstruction, assaulting cops w/desk drawer and sticks, destruction of govt property, deadly weapon (a tomahawk), all guilty. (The obstruction conviction will be reviewed.)

On the two year anniversary of a search that found more than twice the number of classified docs the FBI expected, Donald Trump is doing a presser at the scene of the alleged crime.
Remember: there are still missing documents! Because most journos don't understand the crime alleged, I did a post explaining how to fact check the claims that Donny is sure to repeat today.

Jeff Van Drew mouthpiecing Donald Trump's disavowal of Project 2025.
A bad day for that JVD, given that Vance's name is all over it.JVD also says it's not Trump's fault if he is a cheapskate and chooses to have rallies in places he hasn't already stiffed.
Now launching into lying about Cheadle's pursuit of diversity.

This is gonna be a long thread abt the IG Report on the Roger Stone sentencing, which shows that in extraordinary but not illegal move, Barr's DOJ intervened to override the sentencing recommendations from the prosecutors.
oig.justice.gov/sites/default/…DOJ IG only got jurisdiction bc Aaron Zelinsky alleged political pressure in Congressional testimony, and others accused him of lying about that.

Also, she claims there has been little judicial scrutiny of this, ignoring the 4 precedents and Hunter Biden's similar challenge rejected by 2 Trump appointees. https://twitter.com/emptywheel/status/1812854421400785146
Oh also: If she's right, statutes of limitation on Trump's alleged crimes go until 2027.
Hunter Biden's started expiring last year.

Some amusing bits about the media frenzy.
1) We've talked about little but Biden's age since January. Yet certain hacks with a gripe claim they were the only one telling that secret that led all the news.2) CREDIBLE stories -- that is, the ones that quote people on the record and/or very specifically described people anon, rather than just inventing a conspiracy retroactively based on feels -- all describe a decline since January, and more in recent months.

Journalists (who should be smarter than right wing propagandists) all seem to be missing something about the MAL filing.
This blue leatherbound box is where these classified files were taken from -- the source of the famous pic released last August.
If you don't understand that, you understand almost nothing abt the filing.
How do we know the blue leatherbound box = the classified docs in the August box?
Warrant returns are your friend!!
So are item numbers, in which this box is IDed as item 2 and its contents 2A.

Let's correct the false claims here.
1) Egypt National Bank convinced Beryl Howell they complied with this subpoena -- it's unclear how the Chinese records resolved.
2) Mueller didn't tank this investigation. After a long subpoena fight, he handed it over to DCUSAO. https://twitter.com/EricLisann/status/1805062493175451808
3) That's precisely the same thing he did with Roger Stone investigation: After year-long subpoena delay, he handed over still ongoing investigation into whether Stone conspired w/RU on CFAA.
4) We know what happened to Stone investigation: Barr killed it, Trump killed it more.

Reupping: Judge Hernán Vera denies Garrett Ziegler's MTD against Hunter Biden's lawsuit.
I'm still seeing people wildly misrepresent this lawsuit. It is not abt distributing data. It is about HACKING it.
emptywheel.net/2024/06/21/gar…There was an iPhone--one central to the gun case against Hunter--saved ONLY in iTunes (not iCloud), and protected by a password. Ziegler admits he accessed it -- lots of journos have relied on him doing so. Q is whether doing so was accessing Hunter's data.
